DENTON (UNT), Texas – Bill Rosemann, creative director at Marvel Comics, will speak at the University of North Texas as part of the Fine Arts Series for spring 2015. Throughout his 20 years in the world of comics, Rosemann has been a journalist, copywriter, script writer, Your Man @ Marvel blogger, marketing director, editor and Marvel ambassador.

Rosemann has worked as editor on some of Marvel's most successful series including The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, both of which have been made into international movie blockbusters. He oversees all content produced by Marvel Custom Solutions and guides several of the company's key series, including all titles based on Marvel's cinematic universe.

The event will be at 7 p.m. on Feb. 27 in UNT's Main Auditorium, 1401 W. Hickory St., Denton. His lecture will explore metaphors found in Marvel's comics and show audience members how to apply the lessons learned from the comics to real life situations.

Rosemann believes that there should be a superhero for everyone, and if there isn't, then he'll create one for them. In 2012, Rosemann received a letter from a mother worried about her son because he wouldn't wear his hearing aid. Her son said it was because "superheroes don't wear hearing aids." Rosemann then led a team in the creation of Blue Ear, a new superhero with a futuristic hearing aid. The young boy didn't have a problem with his hearing aid after Rosemann sent him a sketch of Blue Ear.

Stories like this demonstrate the power that comics can have, according to Rosemann. He will share his insights from the world of Marvel that will inspire and excite audience members to make use of the extraordinary powers within them.

The lecture is free for UNT students, $5 for UNT faculty/staff/Alumni Association members, and $10 for public. For more information about this and other events in UNT's Fine Arts Series for spring 2015, visit the Fine Arts Series Facebook page.
