High school symphonies join UNT for preview concert

DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Wind symphonies from Southwest High School in Fort Worth and Flower Mound High School will join the internationally renowned University of North Texas Wind Symphony for a preview concert before all three symphonies travel to Chicago for the 69th Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference.

The preview concert will be held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 13 (Sunday) in the Winspear Performance Hall in the Murchison Performing Arts Center.

Directors from all three bands will conduct the performances at UNT. The bands will perform a wide range of music, including: "Three Preludes" by George Gershwin, "Riften Wed" by Julie Giroux and "Masks and Machines" by Paul Dooley.

The Midwest Clinic conference is annually attended by around 17,000 people from all 50 states and more than 30 countries. The conference hosts some of the most talented and innovative musicians from around the country and provides them a space to network and discuss industry trends.

The event is free for UNT students with student ID, $10 for adults and $8 for other students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
