UNT will install the advanced Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere (CASA) radar on April 11 (Thursday), which will provide improved severe weather data and storm warnings to the North Texas region, just in time for the 2013 tornado season.

UNT students, faculty and staff members will create representations of books out of food, which will be judged by those who attend the festival. There will be several categories, including Best Adult Nonfiction Book, Best Children’s Book and Best Non-Cake Book.

A Presidential Search Advisory Committee has been appointed to identify candidates to lead UNT, the flagship of the UNT System.The 17-member Presidential Search Advisory Committee, appointed by UNT System Chancellor Lee Jackson, is composed of UNT students, alumni, faculty and staff members, administrators, a UNT System representative, and business and community leaders.

UNT has become the first university in the Dallas-Fort Worth region to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology for Environmental Science. Being one of the fastest growing states in the U.S., Texas has a strong need for ecologists who can find answers to problems created by growth and new demand on natural resources.

UNT’s Willis Library recently made changes that have helped the Music Library better utilize space and update its facilities and services. In response to the changing needs of patrons, the Music Library  used space in the southern part of the fourth floor of Willis to construct a 1,400-square-foot room dedicated to processing new acquisitions and donations, and cataloging.

UNT students are invited to participate in a Big Picture Idea Competition. Students participating will use video to tell a story of creativity in the North Texas region, and winners can receive prizes of up to $500 as well as internships with Big Picture Idea.

UNT's Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism will host the ninth annual Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference. The conference will explore the art and craft of unearthing the past through researching and writing historical nonfiction.
