The recent popularity of yoga pants for everyday wear has raised eyebrows among some fashion critics, but comfortable clothing has been around for decades.

A new exhibition, Sportswear to Athleisure: The Creation of Comfortable Clothing, will feature the history of such fashion, using garments from the University of North Texas’ Texas Fashion Collection. The exhibition runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays from Sept. 8 (Friday) to Dec. 8 (Friday) at UNT ArtSpace Dallas.

The One O’Clock Lab Band performs in the UNT Union Syndicate as part of the free

The University of North Texas College of Music kicks off Jazz at the Syndicate at 9 p.m. on Sept. 12 (Tuesday). The free evening and lunchtime jazz performances will be held in the University Union Syndicate, 1155 Union Circle.

The weekly concerts are open to the UNT community and the general public. Performances showcase the UNT College of Music’s variety of jazz ensembles at noon on Thursdays and Fridays and 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Shengli Fu, University of North Texas College of Engineering associate professor

– The National Science Foundation has awarded Shengli Fu, University of North Texas College of Engineering associate professor and chair of electrical engineering, a $250,000 grant for drone research and development. The grant is part of $1 million that has been divided between UNT, the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez.

The University of North Texas’ new Art Building is expected to feature art from an internationally recognized artist – and the public can hear from a group of finalists before the artist is selected to develop an artwork proposal.
