The exhibition “Reimagining the Kimono,” presented by the Texas Fashion Collecti

One of the most iconic garments in the world – the kimono – gets its own exhibition from the Texas Fashion Collection of the University of North Texas. “Reimagining the Kimono” will run from May 1 to June 27 at NorthPark Center in Dallas. The collection will feature 13 kimono and kimono-inspired garments from both Japanese and non-Japanese designers.

When Nada Shabout was studying modern Arab art as a graduate student, she didn’t have all of the resources she needed. She has made it her mission to promote that field. Now the University of North Texas art history professor is co-editing a book on the subject for the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York City. And, artsy.net named her as one of “Eight Influential Female Art Historians You Should Know”, citing her for “increasing the visibility of art from communities that often go overlooked in the contemporary art world.”

Master's students in UNT's Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology will act as counselors at Camp Communicate, which will be held June 5-9 this year. The early registration deadline is Tuesday, May 16.  

Pamela Padilla, an associate professor of biology at the University of North Texas and Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies in the new College of Science has spent her career studying science, doing research in the field of genetics and teaching. Her efforts have brought her great success with everything from awards to publications. Now she has a new honor that comes with a new career focus. She was recently accepted to an advanced leadership institute and wants to help bring new leadership skills to her fellow scientists.

Fulbright Scholarship 2017

Rhonda Christensen, a research professor in the Department of Learning Technologies in the College of Information at the University of North Texas, has been awarded a Fulbright Senior Specialist Scholarship.

The sleek and stylish models strutting down the catwalk May 6 will be displaying the culmination of University of North Texas’ seniors hard work and dedication. ArtWear, the annual juried exhibition at the UNT Union Ballroom, located at 1155 Union Circle, Denton, is showcasing the work of 32 students from the College of Visual Arts and Design fashion design program this year.
