The University of North Texas and Denton County Friends of the Family will host a variety of events for Domestic Violence Awareness Month throughout October. The events aim to raise awareness and bring together those on campus and throughout the community who want to end relationship violence.

Former Israeli president Shimon Peres, considered by many to be the founding father of the State of Israel, has died. Peres served as president from 2007 to 2014 after being appointed by Israel's Parliament and was also prime minister and in numerous other government positions for seven decades. The following University of North Texas faculty member Nancy Stockdale is available to discuss Peres' legacy and accomplishments, which include his winning a Nobel Peace Prize.
On Sept. 26 (Monday), Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will in the first of three scheduled televised debates. The candidates will also debate Oct. 9 (Sunday) and Oct. 19 (Wednesday).
In addition, vice presidential candidates Tim Caine and Mike Pence will meet in a debate Oct. 4 (Tuesday).
